A year ago, almost to the day, Rob and I started this wild ride, finding old games, fixing them up, and bringing them back for the modern gamer. From the beginning, we were committed to getting feedback from you, the fans. We ran a survey, including a place to suggest which game you wanted to see restored. We had a simple form on the website, just for that. Even just meeting people face-to-face, you’ve always been more than eager to let us know your opinion. All in all, we received thousands of votes with hundreds of suggestions–everything from Ace of Aces to Zoff in Buffalo. By far, by a country mile, your number one request was Fireball Island.

We are thrilled to announce that we are giving you what you asked for: Fireball Island is back, baby!

The game’s popularity is no surprise. The original from 1986 was truly unique. The players were explorers, venturing forth on the mysterious island in search of treasure. It featured the imposing idol of Vul-Kar sitting atop a large, vacuum-molded, three-dimensional board of the island, home to all kinds of kinetic chaos. The signature scene is a red marble spitting out of Vul-Kar’s mouth, careening down the chute and knocking the explorer from the rickety wooden bridge to their fiery doom. But let’s be honest: The game itself was a bit rickety too. At it’s core, the original is a simple roll-and-move, with a heaping helping of take-that card play and no real meaningful choices. But we were kids, right? What did we know?

The whole team has been hard at work on the new game for awhile now. Fireball Island: The Curse of Vul-Kar picks up where the original game left off with a funny, fresh twist on the story. It features all new game play designed by Rob Daviau, J.R. Honeycutt, and myself. We’ve already got some stunning concept art by the talented David Kegg. Noah Adelman of Game Trayz (the man behind those ridiculous inserts for Mechs vs. Minions) is working with us to develop an exciting new layout for the island. We’ll start showing off more of the game in the months to come. So stay tuned.

We are publishing the game under license from Longshore Ltd. and have the rights to distribute it in English in the United States, Canada, the European Union, and Australia. We are planning on running a kickstarter soon. You can sign up to be notified when we launch and find more information about the game on our game page. We even have a contest going, where you can win a copy of the game!
